Donna Jamieson-Hall
Background
I have 20 years experience working as an Integrative Health Practitioner. Over that time I've worked with a wide range of people, both individually and in groups. My passion is to integrate therapies to assist people in their journey towards harmony of body, mind and soul.As a nurse I quickly learnt that touch was an effective way to help patients become more comfortable, by alleviating pain and anxiety and to assist a quicker recovery. Through personal experience, I have learnt about the stressors of change and loss in life and from this developed a strong understanding of our ability to heal.
When I became a parent, I found the use of touch to be a key for allowing my children to adapt to stressors in a harmonious way. Later, I followed a career in Midwifery and assisted many people in their journey of birth and parenting. Along with the therapeutic use of touch, I learnt that the breath is another powerful tool in allowing the body and mind to harmonise and to manage pain and anxiety.
Through my midwifery career I found Acupuncture to be very successful in reducing and mending the discomforts of pregnancy and the emotional changes a woman goes through. Acupuncture was beneficial in preparing mothers for labour and enhancing their chances for natural labour and a swift recovery in the postnatal period. It also helped the overall well-being and health of both mothers and babies. This experience encouraged me to pursue Post Graduate qualifications in Traditional Chinese Acupuncture. I also gained clinical experience in Chinese hospitals, where acupuncture is integrated with Western medicine.
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture has been around for 5000 years. The documented and researched health benefits are safe and can be used in conjunction with all other treatments. I specialise in women’s health and find the use of traditional acupuncture effective in all areas of women’s well-being e.g; menstrual problems, fertility, pregnancy, menopause, emotional balance, and also cosmetic enhancement.
My experience of working in a holistic cancer centre in Denmark gave me the experience of combining complementary/integrative therapies with people recovering from cancer, or receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. This encouraged a decrease in stress for the mind and body allowing the body a healthier climate to heal in.
I bring together these experiences and knowledge to help women and couples with fertility, pregnancy, parenting, menstrual problems and menopause. I work with you to help achieve a balance of harmony for the mind, body and spirit allowing for your own optimum level of health and wellbeing.
